Remedy Anxiety By Understanding The Process During An Anxiety Attack

The easiest way to discover if someone is having an anxiety attack is by checking their pulse.  To do this, you want to take two fingers and place them over the inside wrist of the patient.  Look at your watch and count the pulse beats for thirty seconds.

When you have that number in mind, double it and you will have their pulse for one minute.  An average pulse is normally somewhere between sixty to seventy-five beats per minutes.  If you get a number that is higher than that, be sure to check it again, and if it is significantly higher, you should move on to the next checkpoint. To remedy anxiety for individuals you must take all factors into consideration, their heart beat being one important element.

You want to ask the patient if they are feeling a certain temperature.  Normally, you can see the patient either shivering or sweating.  If a patient is feeling cold and clammy, that is a sign of their body temperature dropping.  If you notice that their face in turning red and they are starting to sweat, this is a sure sign of an anxiety attack.  Make sure you check and see if your patient seems to be ncomfortable with their body temperature. Learning how to remedy anxiety for yourself and others often times might not be an easy task, however, discovering these signs and symptoms will be of great benefit.

Don’t Forget Your Breathing During An Anxiety Attack

 

Breathing during a anxiety attacks is extremely difficult to do, but very necessary and can remedy anxiety immediately.  Watch the patient’s chest and count how many breaths they take per minute.  Be aware that if they are having trouble breathing, make sure you look them in the eyes and try to take deep breaths with them.  If they can connect with you, they are much more likely to calm down enough to take a deep breath.  Once you have them on a steady breathing pattern, check for other signs.  If possible, a brown paper bag will help the patient visually notice how much air they are taking in and will get them on a routine breathing pattern.

Be Present With The Individual Suffering From Anxiety

Another great method to quickly remedy anxiety is to be with them, physically, mentally and emotionally. Make sure that you are talking with the anxiety ridden individual the entire time.  Ask lots of questions and take notice of how they are replying.  At this point, there may be some disorientation and words that are just not coming out correctly.  Keep talking them through everything until they get to a point where they are making sense again.  Stay calm and speak with a very calm, soothing tone.

Other Signs Of Anxiety And Anxiety Attacks

You may also see them having the shivers.  You will see their lips turning a bit blue and their teeth chattering.  This is normal for someone having an anxiety attack.  It is their body’s way of telling them that something isn’t quite right and it needs to be handled.  A good start to remedy anxiety in this situation is, If one is available, to wrap them in a blanket and rub their shoulders so they will warm up.

Sometimes, your patient will feel pain during an anxiety attack.  It is not going to occur every single time, but you may hear your patient cry or whimper.  This may be because they can’t get a deep breath and their chest is hurting.  Try to rub their back and calm them down to quickly try and remedy anxiety and the sooner they are calm, the easier it is for them to take a deep breath.  They may also have back pain associated with this panic attack due to the tenseness that can be caused during this process.  Always speak slowly and calmly and inform them that everything will be alright.

Some people can also get nauseous during their anxiety attacks and may even feel the need to vomit.  This is normal.  Make sure that the person is either standing up on on their knees.  They should always be leaning forward to eliminate the risk of a choking hazard.  Do not ever let anyone that is vomiting lie on their back.

During anxiety attacks, some feel a degree of vertigo.  Be sure that you assist the person that is having anxiety attacks to a seated position. Hopefully this will provide them enough stability to remedy the anxiety or at least get them back into balance.  If they are walking and have a spell, they may fall over and hurt themselves.  Vertigo is a very serious condition and during a anxiety attacks, it’s very likely to have a fall.
